Libérica is a new project led by the Catalan double bass player Manel Fortià, who seeks common ground between traditional Catalan song and flamenco, using free jazz as a vehicle. This need to search for his musical roots is made a reality in the album Libérica (Microscopi, 2021), where he revisits great standards of traditional Catalan song through flamenco sonorities and accompanied by a deluxe line-up: the singer Pere Martínez, the pianist Max Villavecchia and the drummer Raphael Pannier.
