Tim Jackson is the artistic director of the Monterrey Jazz Festival and of Kuumbwa Jazz. The Monterey Jazz Festival, in California, is one of the oldest jazz festivals in the world. The first edition was in 1958 and the jazz stars from the past and from the present have performed in this event. Born in San José, California, he became director of the Monterrey Jazz Festival in 1992, when he started working as a booker once the founder of the festival, Jimmy Lyons, retired.
This festival has been considered one of the best jazz festivals of the world by the readers of the magazine Jazz Time Magazine. Since 1975, Kuumbwa Jazz has grown to become one of the most respected jazz institutions in the country, attracting renowned artists, both nationally and internationally. The non-profit organization is dedicated to preserving the history and the legacy of jazz through weekly concerts and educational programs for all ages.
