The sextet blends respect with playfulness, preserving Monk\u2019s essence while pushing his music into new directions.<\/p>\n<p>Their repertoire alternates original compositions with pieces by the American pianist \u2014from classics like \u00abStraight No Chaser\u00bb or \u00ab\u2019Round Midnight\u00bb to lesser-known gems\u2014 conveying that singular rhythmic character and the dissonant, sophisticated harmonies that shaped his work.<\/p>\n<p>With their debut album, <em data-start=\"2388\" data-end=\"2412\">Se abre el Thelonious\u2026<\/em> (Blue Asteroid Records, 2016), the band made their expansive approach clear: mozambique, merengue, guaguanc\u00f3, songo, cha-cha-cha, bolero, danz\u00f3n, afro, reggae and even tangos merge with swing and Latin jazz in an open, diverse and deeply danceable proposal.<\/p>\n<p>Their second album, <em data-start=\"2693\" data-end=\"2721\">Nadie conoce este misterio<\/em> (Blue Asteroid Records, 2023), takes things a step further into experimentation, with fresh arrangements, freer improvisation and a bold sonic identity \u2014without losing the carefree, festive groove that has always defined the band.<\/p>\n<p>Live, Tumbando a Monk is pure celebration: energy, rhythm, improvisation and dance. Their music bridges Afro-Caribbean roots, Andalusian cadences and jazz sophistication, turning every concert into a collective party. The sextet blends respect with playfulness, preserving Monk\u2019s essence while pushing his music into new directions.<\/p> <p>Their repertoire alternates original compositions with pieces by the American pianist \u2014from classics like \u00abStraight No Chaser\u00bb or \u00ab\u2019Round Midnight\u00bb to lesser-known gems\u2014 conveying that singular rhythmic character and the dissonant, sophisticated harmonies that shaped his work.<\/p> <p>With their debut album, <em data-start=\"2388\" data-end=\"2412\">Se abre el Thelonious\u2026<\/em> (Blue Asteroid Records, 2016), the band made their expansive approach clear: mozambique, merengue, guaguanc\u00f3, songo, cha-cha-cha, bolero, danz\u00f3n, afro, reggae and even tangos merge with swing and Latin jazz in an open, diverse and deeply danceable proposal.<\/p> <p>Their second album, <em data-start=\"2693\" data-end=\"2721\">Nadie conoce este misterio<\/em> (Blue Asteroid Records, 2023), takes things a step further into experimentation, with fresh arrangements, freer improvisation and a bold sonic identity \u2014without losing the carefree, festive groove that has always defined the band.<\/p> <p>Live, Tumbando a Monk is pure celebration: energy, rhythm, improvisation and dance. Their music bridges Afro-Caribbean roots, Andalusian cadences and jazz sophistication, turning every concert into a collective party.
