Landing (HRB, 2021) is the second album as leader by the Catalan trumpeter and composer Gregori Hollis. An album where melodies and Latin rhythms take shape with the application of the wide sound palette of jazz. Through a repertoire comprising only original compositions, the group’s sound surprises with its freshness, authenticity and malleability, which sometimes veers towards a more modern language, or even evokes airs of Mediterranean flamenco. The percussion instruments take centre stage, providing the sound and rhythm of Latin music and standing out from other more common instrumentation in the world of jazz.
