Antanas Gustys is the founder and artistic director of the Vilnius Jazz Festival, the first Lithuania jazz festival, which in 2018 celebrates its 31st edition. Founded in 1987, the Vilnius Jazz is the oldest annual jazz festival that takes place in the Lithuanian town. It is an exceptional event in the country that offers a broad perspective on contemporary jazz trends throughout the world.
Throughout the years, the Vilnius Jazz Festival has won the reputation of a radical avant-garde festival aimed at breaking the limits of novelty and creativity. His creative and ambitious programs feature some of the most important names on the international jazz scene along with the best Lithuanian talent, offering joint projects with musicians of academic, ethnic, rock and industrial origin. Antanas Gustys has also been the founder and chairman of the board of the Lithuanian Jazz Federation, and in 2007 and 2010 he was elected to be part of the board of European Jazz Network directors.
