Jazz in Catalonia: Plurality and Inclusion Challenges
Organised by the Catalan Academy of Music
Jazz is a music with deep roots in Afro-American history and culture, but it is also a universal language that has adapted and evolved in different contexts. This panel, organised by the Catalan Academy of Music, will analyse the jazz scene in Catalonia, focusing on the challenges of plurality and inclusion. We will reflect on the opportunities for musicians from different backgrounds, the barriers that may exist, the role of cultural references and the actions needed to build a more equitable and representative scene.
